About Us
The National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of today’s dance professionals and serious students of dance. We provide programs featuring the special talents of quality faculty offering the latest teaching tips and insights into what is new in the world of dance. These programs are geared for the progressive teacher and their students.
NADAA began in 1949, and has remained a leading dance teachers organization. Among NADAA’s innovative concepts were introducing youth programs, supplying notes at their workshops, and allowing members to attend one-day workshops free-of-charge at all their locations. NADAA is made up of dedicated teachers who constantly strive to expand their knowledge of dance technique, teaching skills, and performance abilities.
In keeping with NADAA’s motto “Those who dare to teach must never cease to learn” – NADAA sponsors workshops with sessions for teachers, their assistants, and their students (grouped by age /ability levels). All sessions feature highly professional faculty presenting classes in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz techniques. Expanding the curriculum, classes may be offered in other disciplines – Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Theater Dance and Character. In conjunction, workshops offer informative forums on Pre-School and Children's work, Care and prevention of dance injuries, Business forums on studio management, and presentations by college representatives concerning programs for Art/Dance Majors.
NADAA offers talent showcases at their one-day workshops (a great performing experience for the students), and competitions at the 2-3 day conventions. These competitions are critiqued by outstanding experts well qualified in their particular field of dance.
The NADAA youth programs offer many incentives for participating students. Session scholarships and National Merit Awards are presented to students selected by the faculty for their enthusiasm, motivation, and self-discipline evident in their performance of the presented material. Youth representatives are chosen from the local chapters to attend the National convention on tuition scholarships. A College scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior or a current college student of a NADAA member who plans to major or minor in the arts.
There are active chapters throughout the United States with elected officers who would be happy to help you with any questions. The Home Office based in Massachusetts, is available to be of assistance in business or study/training areas. Feel free to contact us, as we at NADAA consider it a pleasure to encourage and support the true spirit of dance.
